January 2023. A new chapter in the Dilemma book: we are excited to announce our new vocalist Wudstik (Ayreon, For all We Know) and bass player Kristoffer Gildenlöw (Pain of Salvation, For All We Know, Kayak).
During the last few years, when the world came to a halt, a lot of people used that period to reflect. That also happened within progressive rock band Dilemma, resulting in the separate decisions from both bass player Erik van der Vlis and vocalist Dec Burke to focus on their own musical careers. There’s no bad blood whatsoever between us. On the contrary: we truly appreciate them both and everything they have given us as band mates, and more importantly as great friends. We had an amazing time together making music, touring and having so much fun. We want to thank Erik and Dec for all their uplifting energy, passion, time and effort for the band.
Asking Wudstik (Jermain van der Bogt) as vocalist for Dilemma was an easy choice. During our European tour supporting Flying Colors in December 2019, Dec had to cancel the tour last minute due to family circumstances. We knew Wudstik from his work with Ayreon, For All We Know and his own work, and knew he would be the right guy for the job. So we asked Wudstik to fill in and with only two short last-minute rehearsals we went on tour. He did a such marvelous job! He is an amazing vocalist and a very nice guy to hang with and he fitted right in. So when we had to find a new vocalist, Wudstik was our number one call.
As for bass player Kristoffer Gildenlöw, our drummer Collin Leijenaar had worked with him in the Neal Morse Band and Kayak, so the other number one call was Kristoffer. He’s not just an amazing bass player but also a great vocalist, a very talented multi instrumentalist and a super nice guy. He has done a ton of session work playing on many great prog albums and famous for his bass work on Pain of Salvation’s break through album Remedy Lane. Unfortunately at the time of that call, Kristoffer was too busy and could not do it. We auditioned several other bass players, but after considering the options we called Kristoffer again.
We are thrilled to say that both Wudstik and Kristoffer answered our call and that we will be writing new Dilemma history together! Our show supporting Marillion at their upcoming Marillion Weekend in Port Zélande (NL) on March 17 will be the first show Wudstik and Kristoffer will play with us.
In the upcoming months we will record and mix our upcoming concept album. We will announce its title and track listing very soon, so keep an eye on our socials. We’ll be in touch!
